The FLUX Blowpipe works by stimulating the condensation of moisture within the Blowpipe, and harnessing the condensed moisture through a difference in pressure in an absorption chamber.
Condensation is absorbed by a non-toxic and reusable silica desiccant before reaching circulation in the bag.
The FLUX Blowpipe drastically prolongs the lifespan of the instrument before moisture takes effect and in turn reduces the risk of pipers lung disease.
The FLUX Blowpipe is universal to every Bagpipe and is compatible with both natural and synthetic bags, thus does not require a zipper-bag or inner tube for use.
It does not interfere with the sound of the Bagpipe or restrict airflow.
The FLUX Blowpipe does all this whilst remaining aesthetically identical to the traditional Bagpipe Blowpipe.
Robbie is the inventor of The FLUX Blowpipe, and has a credible reputation as a successful piper, engineer, and entrepreneur.
As a piper, Robbie has played for Grade 1 Scottish Power Pipe Band since age 15, and has had a successful career as a solo piper thus far. Winning the Grade 1 British Championship title in 2018, and closing the main stage at ‘T In The Park’ music festival are his proudest achievements.
As an Engineer, Robbie has the title as the United Kingdom’s most innovative young engineer, having won the MTA TDI Challenge competition which is a national competition for young inventors. He is now studying Engineering at the University of Strathclyde.
He is recognised as a rising entrepreneur as the winner of Scottish Edge’ Wild Card and Creative Edge competition where he secured a five figure investment for the development of The FLUX Blowpipe.
Skill and experience across the globe allowed Robbie to identify an international struggle with moisture for Bagpipers, and solve it.

The FLUX Blowpipe is a fantastic new weapon in the piper’s armoury in the constant struggle to control moisture. It’s the new first line of defence in tackling the problem effectively at the point of entry. Every discerning piper should have one!
Chris Armstrong
Gold Medalist and a Pipe Major of Scottish Power Pipe Band
The FLUX Blowpipe extends the playing time of my bagpipe drastically whilst not restricting airflow or impacting sound quality. It is easy to clean the blowpipe, to reuse the moisture-absorbing beads and the built-in valve is a bonus! It has enhanced the performance of my instrument for long rehearsals and is something I’m looking forward to using alongside Scottish Power Pipe Band. A solid example of outstanding engineering to revolutionise the capabilities of the Bagpipe. A stand-out moisture control system indeed.

I was so impressed! It felt so hygienic! It is like any other blowpipe in a way that it is very unrestrictive when you are blowing into the bagpipes but is unique in lots of other ways. As a teacher I would have no hesitations on recommending it to other teachers, parents and pupils.
